SCHOOL OF DESIGN COURSES
BASIC DESIGN 01
Students will learn how to measure the body, to ensure the correct fit of clothing, and will be introduced to basic sewing techniques.  This is also where students begin to draft their own paper patterns, by working on patterns for nine different types of skirts. Students will also be taught how to properly tailor and finish all of these types of skirts. To complete this course, students will need to finish at least one skirt project.
 
INTERMEDIATE DESIGN 02
Students will learn how to draft paper patterns for different types of blouses and dresses, including learning more advanced features such as sleeves and collars. Students will also be taught how to properly tailor and finish all of the lessons covered. To complete this course, students will need to finish at least one blouse or dress project.
 
ADVANCED DESIGN 03
Students will learn how to measure the body for the purpose of making pants. This will lead to students drafting paper patterns for seven different styles of pants. This course will also introduce students to pattern making for different styles of jackets. To complete this course, students will need to finish at least one pant project and one jacket project.
 
COUTURE DESIGN 001
Students will learn pattern drafting more tailored styles of jackets, blouses, and sleeves. Eastern design, such as kimonos, will also be taught. Students will learn how to put lining in a garment, for a more durable and more refined look. To complete this course, students will need to finish all assigned projects.
 
COUTURE INTERMEDIATE 002
Students will learn more advanced tailoring techniques for all types of fully-lined jackets and coats, with collars. This course will also go deeper into Eastern design. At this point in the program, students will begin to develop their own fashion lines and will be introduced to different local fashion shows. To complete this course, students will need to finish all assigned projects.
 
COUTURE DESIGN 003
Students will learn pattern drafting for all different types of outerwear, such as heavier coats and capes, as well as for semi-formals and formals. This course will also allow students to work on their final project in order to receive their diploma. To complete this course, students will begin to work on their twelve-piece collection.
 
BODY DRAPING
Students will learn how to work with fashion sketches to create designs. Eight to Nine lessons for draping on the mannequins will be taught. To complete this course, students will continue to work on and complete their twelve-piece collection and final project.
